Many have asked and I have finally put together a visit to the highly acclaimed National World War II Museum in New Orleans. With 2026 being the celebration of our Nation’s 250th Anniversary and Veterans Day being in November we will honor our Veteran’s along with celebrating our freedoms with this tour. With so much to see this tour will be a two-day tour and also have an earlier than usual departure from Rayne with a departure time of 7:00 am. From Rayne we will take Hwy 90 south making an additional pickup in Houma enroute to New Orleans.
Upon arrival we’ll begin with an included box lunch before exploring this fascinating museum. During your self-guided tour of the museum, you will be able make your way through various buildings consisting of a thorough explanation of the war that changed the world, why it was fought, how it was won and what it means today in appreciation of our freedom. Included in the visit will be the admission to the 4-D film “Beyond Boundaries” This tour includes an overnight stay at the New Orleans Drury located on Poydras Ave. which is less than a mile away from the museum allowing us to remain till closing.
The next morning, we make our way over to the other side of town to visit the National Shrine of Blessed Xavier Seelos. This German born Redemptorist missionary priest know as the “Cheerful Acetic” even with his short time on earth he touched many through his joyful service to immigrants, the poor and the sick. Before departing the city we’ll board the infamous Steamboat Natchez for a lunch cruise on the mighty Mississippi, giving great views of the city all while listening to a lively jazz band.
